Where can I find the cheap notebook computer? That was my grandma asking me. Don’t get surprised because these machines have changed everybody’s life, not only students, business men but also the aged. But when it comes to students, it is now a necessity to have one. But my worry is, why should you struggle with education and at the same time with expensive notebook computers? Yes… a notebook computer is a necessity to current education and gone are the days when we were struggling with a lot of book in our book cases ,but does that mean that one should sell everything he she owns to obtain a computer?

If it is a must that you should have a computer, then look for places where cheap notebook computers are sold. This happens mostly when big companies offer

rebates and have clearance sales. How is this done?…………..Many times they’ll upgrade a system’s hard drive, double the RAM, or toss in a laptop carrying case or other laptop accessories. Very often the deal will include a longer warranty which costs them nothing if you never need it. Check your favorite companies’ sites as often as you can and you’ll find some cheap notebook computers. But you must pay close look to warranty and support. Where manufacturers often provide expensive models with three years of coverage and lifetime tech support, they sometimes limit coverage on budget models to one year, or even 90 days. Don’t settle for less than a one year warranty. Is this important? Well, some say that most problems pop up within the first two months anyway. If that doesn’t reassure you, consider spending a little more for extra coverage.

Another option of getting a cheap notebook computer is through refurbished computer products stores. To assure you it is better to buy a refurbished one because the good thing with them is that they come with the warranty and it is on record that they are better than new ones because they are double checked.

These machines have basically been used in the past and revamped with new hardware and programs. I know many students will not like any thing sounding second hand, but if the income dictates, what will you do? You will have to go for a cheap one whether second hand or new. Remember these machines are the most fragile part of any student and for that matter buying one at the highest price may not sound economical especially for students.

At the end of the day you will have to buy a notebook case or laptop back bag to secure this machine .I think buy now you have seen my point of looking for the cheap notebook computer. If this machine of yours is cheap I think you will not mind buying an expensive bag? And even if you get an expensive bag, you will have compensated some money by buying a cheap laptop.

Notebook look good and for that matter they attract thieves unlike PCs especially when they are used in the public places. By the way the money you save on that cheap laptop can make you get connected to the fastest internet connection or donate that money to the vulnerable people especially children.

Seeking a quality cheap notebook computer at a low price may not be easy, but having all necessary information before beginning the selection process will allow the student to have many more options but if you have money, I mean excess, go ahead and buy the most expensive. Click here for more information and where to find cheap notebook computers of your choice.

Year from year more and more often, people try to find some ways how to spend more time working out of office. And technologies really help them – laptops, wireless internet, other mobile devices, and people have more choice possibility when work and when relax!

If your laptop was provided by your employer, the security risk is even greater. A recent study conducted by the FBI found that 57% of computer crimes were linked to stolen laptops, which were then used to break into corporate servers later on. (http://www.pcsecurity.com)This breakage can cost company a lot of money in the loss of the computer itself, the loss of the data on the computer and the use of the computer to hack into the company’s main computer systems. So safer and cheaper will be, if you pays to look after your laptop and read some of these useful information security awareness tips.

Personalize your computer.

If your computer will be with some personal identification tag, then thief will not likely to steal computer with your name on it! And also it is less likely to sell such as to pawn shop.

Travel with another employee or a friend.

Some notebook thefts are committed right where your carry on luggage is examined. He waits for a notebook on the conveyor belt and grabs it while the owner is distracted. So, if you go with someone else, one of you can watches the other’s possessions coming out on the conveyor belt while other dealing with security personnel.

Use neutral briefcase for your laptop

Don’t use computer briefcase that scream “Notebook computer” to every thief in the area. Instead, use a backpack made for notebook computers or other luggage that does not indicate there is a notebook computer in the case.

Use security cable.

If you are using your notebook computer in the lounge area, use a security cable to attach the computer to something like the desk you are using the computer on. These cables are between $20 and $50 in most computer stores and lock computers to where they are being used.

Back up your data.

There is many ways how to backup your data – on CD’s, to your corporate network or back up services such as the one Yahoo! Offers in its briefcase service. No matter how you back up yours computer information, you can access it easily with your new computer.

Encrypt document to your computer.

To do it, you can use encryption software. These software codes your documents so only you and others with the right password can read them. The basic level can be downloaded for free in many cases from the publishers of the more complex versions of encryption software which you can buy in most computer stores or even online for as much as $100 and expensive.

The value of the information ON a laptop is usually much greater than the cost OF the laptop itself…

I have got 1 computer which is connected to the internet using a virgin media modem. But i recently bought a new computer and i want to connect that to the internet aswell. I have got a Belkin wireless router that can connect both computers to the internet. I have installed the software for one computer but i can’t do it for the other one. Please help!

Odds are you probably don’t need to install the CD on the 2nd computer. I’m assuming you are using DHCP, which simply means letting the wireless router send the IP addresses, etc. to the computers on your lan automatically.

You’ve probably already done this but I’ll mention it just in case so we have a complete picture. Your wireless router is now connected to your ISP’s modem, and your 2 computers are connected to that.

Now, 1 of the computers is connecting fine but the other wasn’t able to install the CD so it’s not, yes..? I’d try going to the Control Panel on the machine that isn’t connecting and try the Windows Wizard to try and create a new internet connection. Just tell it to automatically get the settings from the wireless router. Hopefully that will work.
As a side note, you can probably connect to your router via http://192.168.1.1 and check it’s settings, etc. Take a look at the manual for the router for the correct IP address, etc. since the one I just mentioned is just the one most commonly used and yours may differ.

Right now I have McAfee Security on my laptop which will expire early next year. I’d like to buy a new laptop & get rid of the old one. But first, I will transfer all the files from my old computer to the new one.

Should I just let the contract lapse?

If you install the software on your new computer using the same pass code, it will allow you to use the remaining protection on the new computer. In the past, it has been my experience that when installing the software on a new computer, and it’s still within the contract period, you’ll get another year of protection on the new computer. I haven’t bought any new anti-virus software in about 5 years cuz I use free stuff, but if memory serves me correctly, I should be right.

At first there was a desktop computer, then there came the laptop, then notebook and now we have the netbook computer. Everyone who uses the laptop may at one time need to have a laptop that is simple to carry anywhere but still accomplish his tasks that’s why the netbook is put forward as the best computer for the next generation.Netbooks are bedfellows to Notebook computers the only difference is that they are very small compared to most notebook computers. They are made specifically for browsing and emailing the internet. One of the reasons why they are liked much is that they are energy efficient and lightweight.

Netbooks came into existence in 2007 when Asus Company made the Asus Eee PC. Netbooks have a small screen which ranges in the size of 7 to 10 Inches. They also have a manageable small keyboard although it doesn’t have a CD ROM or disk drive and that makes it the lightest notebook on planet earth. But although it is small, it has a RAM OF 1 GB, 80 GB HDD, advanced configuration and power interface (ACPI) compared to other laptops .That means you can use it for very long time without getting worried about the size of information you are using on this computer called netbook. With our world of internet and the global village, these netbooks are made to pick internet from any location as long as one is in easy reach of internet connectivity.

The materials made to manufacture them are specifically to make them extra portable. And for that matter they are the best laptops to carry with you anywhere and that is the reason why they are taking the market of computer by storm. They come preloaded with Ubuntu Linux but that doesn’t mean that you can’t change it to Microsoft windows XP. I know there are some people who are not conversant with Linux but they shouldn’t get scared because one can change it to use Microsoft Windows as soon you get one who can do it for you.The best of all is that the price of these netbooks is less compared to the usual suspect of laptops .While the normal laptop with minimum features can be got at $1000, the netbook is cheaper some starting at as low as $300 .The reason given being that these netbook computers don’t have many features found in the other set of laptops.

With the current trend in business, education, travel and office work, netbook computers seem to take the world of computing by surprise. There are many places in this world where you can get them at a cheaper price, but the only place I recommend to purchase them is at TigerDirect.com because they have been in computer business for very long time and they have the best guarantee for their entire items. So next time you plan to buy a laptop, don’t forget to ask for the netbook computer if what you want is to browse the internet and send mails through the net.

Now that the holidays are behind us, the cost-conscious among us will be looking for those “post-holiday” deals that are even better than the holiday specials. If you are not the type that has to be at the leading edge of technology, most retailers will be trying to unload last year’s models to make room for the new ones. So if you are in the market for a new personal computer system, this is a very good time to reel in one of the outgoing models at a terrific deal.

Before you whip out the plastic and part with your hard earned money, consider this is a good time to make a short checklist of how to secure your brand new computer. If you go through some of the technology websites, you will notice that most of the news revolve around how threats to your computer will escalate this year. So protecting your brand new computer should be the first order of business. In a way, this will ensure that your computer will hit the ground running, instead of just hitting the ground and shattering into a hundred bitty electronic pieces.

Here are the top seven threats you should take into account as your unpack your just-delivered computer:

7. Outdated anti virus program

Most computer systems ship with an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) version of an anti virus program. OEM programs are watered down, no frills versions of a software vendor’s product. This means many other functionalities that are available in the retail version may not be available in the OEM version. It is very likely that your computer retailer shipped you a system that has been in their inventory for several months, so the anti virus software is many months old as well. Once you activate your anti virus program, immediately update it. You may have to refer to the accompanying documentation on how to do this. But before you do anything else, be sure to update the anti virus program because this will be your first line of defense. You may also consider purchasing a full version of an anti virus software or an entire security suite to replace your OEM version. Aside from the anti virus program, a security suite will also include anti spyware program, email filter and firewall. Having all these programs working on your computer considerably beefs up your defenses.

6. Unpatched operating system

Most mailicious software exploit the flaws in Windows’ codes. Very likely, your computer will come with Windows XP and very likely too it will not be patched with all the security updates that Microsoft has released throughout the life of Windows XP. So your next order of business is to head over to Microsoft’s website and download all those security patches. An outdated anti virus program running in an unpatched Windows environment is a sure recipe for disaster. As an aside, the forthcoming Microsoft Vista has many a computer security expert prepping their networks for the possible onslaught of new attacks.

5. Outdated Internet Explorer and Outlook Express

Since Windows comes with their own browser and email program, these usually become the users’ first choice. So if you decide to use these bundled programs, you should know that older versions of these programs are also easily exploited by malicious software. So after patching your operating system, you should next download the patches for Internet Explorer and Outlook Express.

4. Internet Telephony

Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is the technical term to describe internet telephony. Many providers offer internet telephony where you can make long distance and overseas calls at greatly reduced prices. The popularity of this service has increased steadily over the last two years. But because this service uses the internet to deliver voice calls, it therefore becomes susceptible to all the other security problems that haunt the internet. Without going into technical details, the very infrastructure of VoIP makes it vulnerable to many types of attacks. Choose your VoIP provider wisely. There are many security hardware available to VoIP providers and reputable ones are more likely to have security measures in place.

3. Wireless Insecurity

Wireless networks are great to have around the house. You can hook up several computers to share an internet connection without several meters of cables slithering around the floors and walls. If you have a laptop, you can also take it with you to malls or coffee shops and enjoy a drink while surfing through their wireless facilities. But a poorly configured wireless network coupled with weak passwords can easily compromise your computer as others with a wireless laptop snoop around for vulnerable systems.

2. Phishing Scams

Phishing scams are on the rise and will continue to. Phishing scams usually come in the form of an official looking email from a financial institution or online retailer that you may have a relationship with. The email will ask that you update your account by providing them with your personal information or you may risk cancellation of your account. The email will provide a link to a bogus website that will capture your sensitive information and, well, you know what will happen next.

1. Time Magazine’s Person Of the Year

Last December, Time magazine voted “you” the person of the year for making social networking the global phenomenon that it was in 2006. Obviously not tech-inclined, we will pardon Time for not posting a caveat that social networking will be the biggest threat to netizens this year. As of August 2006, one in every 600 social networking-related site is infected with some form of malicious software, just waiting for a visitor to click on the poison link and with the sheer number of social networkers, those virus-laced sites need not wait very long.

Right now, social networking sites are the honey to which the bees are drawn and cyber criminals are very much aware of this. So for them to divest you of your cash, all they have to do is be where the action is and thank Time magazine for it.

Ergonomic Computers

span style=”font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman";”>Popular axiom says that advent of modern technologies have changed the way we work and live. Evey one says that technology has improved our lives. Let us have a look at this myth. Personally speaking, using my computer has given me backaches, eye problems, wrist-aches and a sore neck.

My doctor says that this is ergonomics problem. He suggest I should change my posture, better still my work station. Is that it?

Understanding computers should be easy. For any user, the main area of concern is usability. And, for computer designers, usability has three commonly recognized components: Functionality to ensure that the computer solves the correct problems, ergonomics – an application of scientific information concerning humans to the design of computers, systems and environment – to guarantee the elimination of physical and psychological problems that may arise from the use of the product, and product’s accessible and supportive nature. “That is why the hardware and software manufacturers are going long way to obtain the opinion of consumers,” says Dr. Norbert, a researcher.

When discussing human and computer interaction, the focus is on all aspects of the human use of computers to improve the usability of IT systems. The physical design of computer parts affects how a person interacts with the computer. The goal of ergonomics is to optimize the human-machine and human-environment relationships by basically, fitting the systems to the needs of users. Research is being carried out to improve the design and make computers more ergonomic.

What to do till more friendly computers come up?Watch out and take care.
